The Structural Functions Of A VoIP Switch

VoIP Switch Features

Softswitch provides all management functions, such as -

Signaling Gateway: It acts as an intermediary between VoIP and PSTN networks. The gateway provides the ability to communicate between the SS7 protocol used by the PSTN and the SIP protocol used by VoIP.

Media Gateways: - They are used to tie data into packets based on a specific protocol of a circuit-switched voice series. They are controlled by a soft switch that provides signaling and calls control capabilities/functions.

Application Server: - All services provided by the service provider to the client including call forwarding, voicemail, etc.

In switching, VoIP switch is considered as the most advanced innovation at present.
